Live YOUR life

Hello Readers,

Do you like to watch movies? I know I do. I love to watch how different stories can be played out as if they are realistic in our imaginary world. Many of the movies are about people’s lives depicted from an actual story even though the movie itself maybe fictional. I find it interesting for the actors and actresses to do something that seems like some people do as a part of their regular routine which is pretend to play the role of someone else. Some people believe they have to get validation from another human to become the person they want. Actors and actresses study for years to “PLAY” the role of someone else and here is the kicker, they get paid very well to do so. Are you living someone else's dream and not getting paid for it? Are you in a “role” you don’t want to be in?  If even you are “getting paid” or in a role you don’t want to be in, I want you to STOP IT NOW!  Live YOUR life NOW! After three deaths in my family within 10 days of each other, I know for sure I am on the right track in my life. I urge you to reevaluate where you are going and decide to live your life NOW.

Do you have this?

Patience

Why is the word “patience” such a troubling word? We live in a fast pace society and we want everything to happen when we want it to happen, or perhaps I am only speaking of myself. If by chance you fall into this category of needing more patience, then I ask you to read on. 2016 has been a good year for me in all aspects of my life and yet I still question sometimes when? When is this going to happen or when is that going to take place. The reality is I have come to understand is that having patience really awakens something within us. I now understand that no one is waiting on me to do anything. I have to make things happen and when I get in motion, poof,  the things happen that I have desired. I once again become reassured that I am on the right track. The challenge question for you is what are you waiting on to come to the light in your life? Perhaps you need to get in motion. Once I got in motion, I realized what I thought I needed patience for was already there waiting on me. Stop waiting on something to change, be the change you are waiting on. I have come to learn that patience can be your best friend if you let it.

Permission... Do you need it?

Hello Readers,

I will never forget a demonstration I witnessed with an elephant being held to a teeny tiny steel rod in the ground. The elephant was trained to stay in the position he was in and he could only move in the direction his trainer told him to move. The strange thing I noticed was the elephant needed permission to move beyond where he was allowed. The even stranger thing was (yes I said stranger) was the elephant had the capacity and strength to pull the steel rod out the ground but did not. This story about the elephant reminds me of a quote I recently read by Harriet Tubman “I have freed hundreds of slaves; I would have freed more if they would have known they were slaves.” When I first read this quote I was stuck in my seat. I thought to myself how many people out there in the world are waiting for someone to lead and tell them it is okay to pursue their dreams? Are you one of those people? Are you waiting on permission? If you are, STOP IT! Go live your life. No one is coming to give you permission to be great, so just be great. Write the first paragraph to the book, write the first line to the song, take the first class to learn about a field you are interested in... JUST DO IT!

Are you Obsessed?

Hello Readers,

Sometimes, when we hear the word "obsessed," we add a negative connotation to it. However, let's dissect the meaning, according to one of Merriam Webster's definitions obsessed means “an activity that someone is very interested in or spends a lot of time doing." I have studied the obsessions of entrepreneurs for a while and it seems that most if not all entrepreneurs are obsessed. Possibly we all could be obsessed with something we like to do "a lot." The question is what are you obsessed with? Your passion lies in your obsession. Here is a curve ball, people can be so obsessed to the point they do not do anything about the desire they have. For example, Sally is obsessed with becoming a teacher, she loves kids and she is almost done with her studies in school. Her next step is to apply for jobs which is what she day dreams about all day but, she is stagnant on the applying. She gets cold feet because she is stuck on being such a "great" teacher and waiting for the "perfect" moment to apply, she loses her confidence as to what her heart tells her to do. She is in “love" with the idea of teaching", but hasn't finished the moves needed to do what she needs to do. In short she is obsessed herself into fear. What is the solution to this? Sally has to Keep it Moving (KIM). Sally is the only person standing in her own way. What is keeping you from your obsession, are you obsessed with the "idea" of something or are you making strides in your obsession? Are you standing in your own way?

Are resumes dead? Employment path creation vs 9 to 5

Hello Readers,

I read an article the other day which stated that more and more companies are not hiring for full time positions like they used to five years ago. The reasoning behind the slowdown in hiring is because people are creating their own path of employment by utilizing methods such as freelancing, blogging, Ubering, and Fivering (yes I made up these words). I only named a small portion; there are many more ways of making money. I am a huge fan of the new wave of making money and creating your own path. I am all over it myself. Sooo, if hiring is slowing down and not what it used to look like back in the day, this leaves the question of… is the resume dead? I have “great” news and “okay” news for you. The “great” news is NO, the resume is not dead and is still very much needed. The “okay” news is everyone will NOT fit into the new wave of creating their own path of employment for themselves. Many people like the routine and security of a 9-5. The people who are creating their own path of employment will start businesses and they will need employees, therefore, the cycle will continue and the resume will still live. SO which one are you? The 9-5 or the path creator? Either one is a great option, remember to fit yourself into what is best for you and not what anyone else thinks is best for you and most importantly keep your resume up to date.
