Are you Obsessed?

Hello Readers,

Sometimes, when we hear the word "obsessed," we add a negative connotation to it. However, let's dissect the meaning, according to one of Merriam Webster's definitions obsessed means “an activity that someone is very interested in or spends a lot of time doing." I have studied the obsessions of entrepreneurs for a while and it seems that most if not all entrepreneurs are obsessed. Possibly we all could be obsessed with something we like to do "a lot." The question is what are you obsessed with? Your passion lies in your obsession. Here is a curve ball, people can be so obsessed to the point they do not do anything about the desire they have. For example, Sally is obsessed with becoming a teacher, she loves kids and she is almost done with her studies in school. Her next step is to apply for jobs which is what she day dreams about all day but, she is stagnant on the applying. She gets cold feet because she is stuck on being such a "great" teacher and waiting for the "perfect" moment to apply, she loses her confidence as to what her heart tells her to do. She is in “love" with the idea of teaching", but hasn't finished the moves needed to do what she needs to do. In short she is obsessed herself into fear. What is the solution to this? Sally has to Keep it Moving (KIM). Sally is the only person standing in her own way. What is keeping you from your obsession, are you obsessed with the "idea" of something or are you making strides in your obsession? Are you standing in your own way?

Experiences

Hello Readers,

I have written about this topic many times and I will never write enough about having great experiences. I am on the plane flying back from a cycling event that empowers wounded warriors to engage with each other and build long lasting relationships. During the first day of arrival the warriors are very isolated, yet excited to be a part of something. Many of the Warriors were not speaking to each other however, if one was paying close attention, one could see that they really want to engage but not sure how to. Fast forward to day three where all the Warriors are taking selfies, laughing, and having a great time. Who would have thought that two cycle rides over the course of two days would cause this? The answer is that it was more than the cycle ride through the city; it was an experience for all 50 Warriors. The experience to see things they never saw and meet people who have now become their friends. Money, silver, or gold could never replace that type of experience. The WIIFM (what's in it for me), was the experience to witness all of the once isolated warriors now engaged in relationships neither them nor I will never forget.

Create experiences for yourself, family, and friends. People will never forget how you made them feel.

7 Tips for Life Part 1

Hello Readers,

I just came back from a Women’s Conference in Atlanta, GA. and if you have been following me you know I love to pass on what I learned. Over the next few weeks I am going to share with you what I call “Tips for Life,” a four part series on practical tips anyone can use. The conference was full of dynamic speakers and they had much wisdom to share on leadership, personal development, career, and simply living the good life. I am going to share with you a mixture of what I learned in hopes that you gain from it and pass it along as well. Below is your first round of Tips for Life. The theme is personal and spiritual development. Enjoy:

7 Tips for Life Part 1

1. The way we think will guide and steer our life. Change your thoughts, change your life.
2. If you say you can’t then you won’t. Your mouth dictates your future.
3. Who told you, that you were not enough? You are enough!
4. Stop chasing trends, create your own.
5. Stop making excuses, you are where you are because you allowed yourself to be there.
6. Know your worth.
7. Learn how to refresh. Refresh means to fill up again and again.

These are some of the tips from one of the dynamic speakers at the conference, Toya Exnicious. Check her out and follow her on Twitter @MsTPrissy

Change

Hello Readers,

I think I have figured out why sometimes we are afraid of change. Change is the unknown and the uncomprehending. If we cannot wrap our hands around what is changing in our lives we tend to panic and become anxious. In actuality the change we are afraid of is not really scary at all. As human beings we have a natural tendency to want to know everything and not be surprised. In essence we want to be prepared for everything. I once heard a phrase that changed my life "there is a blessing in not knowing". Wow! What powerful words. My lesson learned from this is change is good. Just imagine if we did not experience change. For example, we would have the same president, we would wear the same clothes, we eat the same foods, we would visit the same cities, and that could be boring. But Marla, I am not talking about that type of change. I figured someone would say that. Guess what? Change is change (let that sink in for a moment). Change is going to happen whether you want it to or not. The big secret to being afraid of change is this: your response. How we react to the change is going to be the deciding factor. Change is good. The unknown is good. Just sit back, relax, and let change happen. It is well.
