Hello Readers,
A few years ago I interviewed for a
position I knew in my bones I was a great fit for. I had all the requirements
they were seeking. I also had the personality and drive to excel at the position;
therefore, I knew I was going to rock the interview and get the job. Well, I impressed the managers and my future teammates. I took a tour of the
building and even saw where my desk would be. After the interview I headed home
and did what we all do, waited impatiently (after I sent my thank you and
follow up email). A week went by, then two weeks, and nothing. The recruiter
called and I was ready to hear my start date and the words that came out of the
recruiters mouth was not what I was expecting to hear. I did not get the
position. I asked what could I have done differently in my interview and on my
resume, she stated nothing, everything was done in excellence, however they chose
an internal candidate. I told this story to tell you this one thing, Keep It
Moving (K.I.M.). I had to keep applying and keep believing in my abilities to
do the job I desired. I encourage you to do the same. So what you did not get
the job, move on. Time is too precious to sulk, we have to K.I.M.
Here are some tips to help you K.I.M.
after a unhappy job declination:
1. Ask what you can do differently for the
next interview
2. Ask can you reapply if needed.
3. Keep applying for jobs until you
land the job you desire.
