Merry
Christmas! As you reflect about this past year I want you to grab a sheet of
paper and think about all the great things that have happened in relation to
your career. Now I want you to correlate this list with your life. How have
these experiences impacted your life? What would you do differently? What can
be taken away? Each year, as is each day, is a chance to learn and experience
life. Grab a hold of it and GO! Have no regrets as Gary Vee states. Take what
you have learned and go create the career and life you want!

After the Employee is Hired: Now What?
Many
instances after an employee team member is hired the job description is null
and void as the new employee begins to learn their role as the demand is needed
and not always according to the original job description. Human resources and
organizational management should provide employee team members with
independence in job and task design of their roles (Plomp, Tims, Akkermans, Khapova, Jansen, &
Bakker, 2016). Allow the new employee to provide their own insight to the job
role and tasks. All the employee to feel as if they belong from day one.

How Can Organizations Help With Job Crafting?
Job
crafting within organizations can be supported on three levels, the
organizational level, the team level, and the employee team member level.
Individual growth leads to team growth which leads to organizational growth
(Cianni & Wnuck, 1997). As a result of the lack of organizational
management support, employee team members may not be aware of job crafting and
what it entails let alone collaborative job crafting. Awareness should be
raised among employee team members to partake in job crafting which will
provide them the chances to develop their talents (Tims, Bakker, & Derks,
2014; Bakker, Tims, & Derks, 2012).
