Passion

Hello readers,

The other night my husband and I were having a conversation with our son about track and field. Track and field is a sport he is passionate about and wants to participate in for a lifetime. During this conversation we asked him to define the word passion. He mentioned something along the lines of strong desire. I pulled out my handy “smart phone” (how did we survive without them) and found this definition on Dictionary.com. It states passion is “any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate or a strong amorous feeling or desire; love; ardor”. Notice the words “powerful and strong”; these words explain the depth of passion and what it means. We explained to him passion means you eat, sleep, live, and dream about the one thing you want. If a person has a passion for anything they will read about it, learn it, study it, do it, practice it, and I think you get the picture. We asked our son does he exercise all of the previous mentioned. Now ask yourself what are you passionate about and what are you going to do about it.

Don’t say these words

Hello readers,

I have noticed in my readings of successful people (by successful I mean whole individuals in all areas of life, not just in financial) that they speak a certain language. There are certain phrases or words you will NOT hear them say. Let’s take a look at some of them:

1. I can’t
2. This is not in my job description
3. We have never done it this way before
4. This is a dumb question but…
5. I will not need your help
6. I have learned all I need to know
7. Thanks but no thanks
8. Well that’s not fair
9. When will it be my turn?
10. I do not read

Are you guilty of saying any of these phrases? I know I have been in the past, but after a mindset change I stopped. If you are guilty, then STOP! Figure out a way to turn them around. Such as instead of saying I can’t, say I will. Remember your words have power and you are what you speak.

Words

Hello Readers,

This week we are going to do a quick self evaluation. Pick 5 of the words from the picture below. Now ask yourself do these words truly describe you? Next ask what would a coworker or spouse say? The key is to be honest with yourself. What can you do to enhance these characteristics? Remember you are creating a brand the moment you step outside the house. People remember your character before they remember your good deed.

Forgiveness

Hello Readers,

If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know I love to conduct word definition searches. The word I want to discuss is probably not the most popular word however, this word is an action we must take at least once in our lives. I am speaking about forgiveness. I am sure you have heard that forgiving is not for the other person but it is for you. Well, sorry to upset you but that is a true statement. I recently had to forgive someone and BELIEVE me I really was not fond of doing so. I learned however, that once I forgave the person, I am now free to heal, live, love, and grow. Holding on to something in your heart leads to stress and stress leads to illness and illness leads to death. I am not sure about you but, I do not want to die from the pressure I feel because I am holding anger or resentment in my heart against someone. Do you? Ask yourself this question if you have someone you need to forgive. No matter how big or small the act/crime committed. Please for your life’s sake forgive them so you can live again.

Your thoughts welcome…

Five good things

Hello Readers,

Here we are in the month of September. The year is almost over and we are three months away from Christmas. This year has flown by. But in reality don't we say that every year? Don't we say “wow this year has really gone by fast”? With the year going by so fast very seldom do we stop and smell the roses. Have you taken the time to stop and think about five good things that happened to you this year? Five may seem like a small number and I hope that more than five good things have happened to you this year. I'm going to open my world to you and share my five good things. These five things are just a small sample of the great things that happened to me this year. I have way more than five. So here they are:

1. Graduated with my Masters Degree in Adult Education from Strayer University!
2. Received great feedback about my blog and how it is helping people!
3. Got surprise birthday party! Never had one as an adult.
4. Won an iPad Air!
5. I am doing more of what I love which is training and development on various platforms!

What are your five things? Please share
