Strategizing

Hello Readers,

What does the word strategizing mean? As you know I love to research and define words. The definitions that I have read are from various resources. Here is my collective effort of my own rendition of the definition of strategizing, "The act of putting together a carefully planned out idea." Now, the question for you is what are you currently strategizing on? Before answering this question, you need to first have a strategy, an idea you want to carefully plan out.

Below are a few steps to strategizing your idea:

1. Get the idea out of your head, and put it on paper, laptop, or tablet. I recommend paper. This can be done with mind mapping or simply listing the idea.
2. Write down the purpose and focus of the idea. Why do you want to see this idea come to fruition? Who will this idea impact?
3. Who do you need to get on board? Who needs to help you with this idea? Who are the people who believe in you?
4. Start. What is the next step you need to take to get your idea moving? You have already taken the first step which is writing it down.

Action: I charge you to start strategizing on one idea of yours right now. Follow this process and have it done by December 31. You will be amazed at what you can do when you push yourself to do it.

Connect people

Hello Readers,

I am a trainer, a teacher, a coach, an educator, and a connector. You may say geesh, Marla that is a lot of titles, yes I agree it is. It is not about titles for me. Nothing brings me more joy than to help people get to where they need to be or where they want to be. One mantra I follow is from the words of one of the most well-known motivational speakers of all time Mr. Zig Ziglar (whom I was blessed to hear speak in person before he passed). Zig stated "If you help enough people get to where they want to be you will be well taken care of." I added a little of my words into this phrase. Recently I was in a training session with a young lady and she said “Marla maybe you can help me” (not sure what gave her the inkling I could assist her in any area aside from the training I had just provided, after all we had just met), however, she proceeded to trust me in asking for assistance. She stated that she is new to the city, a beginning artist, and that she wanted to get connected to the art community in the city. I viewed her website and she is NOT beginning artist by a long shot. I saw nothing but masterpieces. I said well darling you are in luck. I shared with her that I have a cousin who is an artist and she is well diverse in the art community. I sent a few texts and they were connected within a matter of a few minutes. The smile on her face was one of the highlights of my day. It felt great to connect her one step closer to her dreams of being a full time artist. Who have you connected today? As you can see it is not hard. If someone needs you then try your best to help them, trust me the reward always is in the giving. Don’t worry about your wants; you will be well taken care of. Ask me how I know
:)

Counsel

 Hello Readers,

I recently read a quote saying we cannot become successful by ourselves. I am a firm believer in this statement. A statement you can say to yourself that will kill your chances at success is "it is me against the world". Please STOP IT! It is not you against the world, because you need someone in this world to help you. I recently had lunch with someone and received sound wisdom. I am always seeking methods to speak to people and understand certain things in life. I truly understand that I do not know it all and I will never claim to. This is why seeking counsel is one of the wisest things you can do on your success journey. I am not saying to stop reading to discover things on your own; I am simply saying reach out for sound counsel. Do research on an area you need help in and email or call a contact for that area. The worst someone can say is no, and that is not likely to happen. So you may wonder what some of the sound wisdom I received was. I was advised to make sure I am making sound decisions and do not allow any situations to blur my view of what I want in life. What is a piece of sound counsel you have received lately? Feel free to share. It may help someone else.

Service

Hello Readers,

Do me a favor and ask yourself who have you served  lately? Really, take some time to think about it. Did you serve someone today? If so great keep it going, if not ask yourself why? I believe we exist in the world for the sole purpose of helping and aiding others. Now you may ask but Marla what about my needs? Great question, ironically when you begin to place your care into the care and concerns of others somehow your needs are met. If you think serving is something hard to accomplish on a daily basis here is a list of simple things you can do to serve others:

1. Smile at 5 people today. You never know what a smile can do for others.
2. Open the door for someone else.
3. Compliment someone.
4. Ask someone how can you help them.
5. Yes as crazy as this one seems, let someone in during traffic.

This is a simple list to follow.

Happy serving
