3 Tips to Embrace Change

Hello Readers,

As you may know I am a word and quote junkie. I love to research the meaning of words and post various  quotes. For the sake of this blog the word of the day is “change.” The definition of change is to make or become different (Google search). What are you making different in your life or career? Have you recently gone through a change in your life or career? Take time to ponder on these two questions. I ask myself these questions on a regular basis and here are 3 tips I have learned to embrace when it comes to change:

1. The prep- Change is going to happen. You can dwell on the change or you can ask yourself what can you do to make this change/transition worthy for your life and career?

2. The current- Okay the change has happened, where are you in the process? Time to assess where you are and the role you play in the change that has taken place.

3. The future- You are in the midst of the change and things are not that bad. You are growing from this and you can help someone else now that you have experience.

Do you DREAD Mondays?

Hello Readers,

Do you dread Mondays? Do you hate when the weekend is over? I would say “hate” is strong word; however, I have wished that I had an extra day from the weekend. Have you?  I have never dreaded Mondays and I personally do not see a reason to. Here’s why, I believe it is all about preparation. Do you prepare for the week? I prepare for the week over the weekend by making a list of what I need to do. For example, I prepare my meals for the week; iron my clothes for Monday-Wednesday if not the whole week, and I write out my tasks and goals that I need to achieve. If you are still dreading Mondays after you have prepared, then you need ask yourself what are you “dreading” and why? Is it because you are on a job you do not like? When I speak to clients this is the main reason the “dread” has over powered them. My suggestion is change your mind set by getting in action. Start applying for new jobs, start writing the book, just start. Prepare yourself for the prepared and you will never have to “dread” another Monday again. When you are prepared you will have high expectations of what can happen on Mondays instead of dreading them.

Preparation

Hello Readers,

People often ask me how do I prepare for my training classes or workshops. Below are 7 tips I stand by:

1. I very seldom rush in the mornings.
2. My clothes are ironed and prepared 2-3 days in advance for the work week.
3. I read my materials and practice daily up until time for the training.
4. I arrive to the training early enough to acclimate myself with the environment.
5. I have printouts and materials done 1-2 weeks in advance.
6. I conduct research on the audience I am teaching.
7. I pay attention to what I am saying to the learners. It is all about the learner not me.

There are many other prep tips I follow, these are the main ones. I heard a very thought provoking phrase earlier this month and it is for us to be "prepared for the prepared." Therefore these tips help me to do such. I hope they help you prepare for what is already ahead for you. Be prepared for the prepared. Preparation leads to success.
