The kid in us all

Hello Readers,

I love to take walks in my neighborhood and watch the kids play and ride their bikes. On my walk the other day, I watched a man play with his remote control car. I thought to myself this is the cutest thing. It made me think about staying young. I believe all adults are big kids. Some of us have to dig deep to find the kid in us but, believe me the kid is there. Here are some ways to get that kid out of you:

1. Color. Yes, get a coloring book and crayons.

2. Do a puzzle.
3. Buy a remote control car
4. Fly a kite
5. Play some video games
6. Go to an amusement park with no kids. (No this is not selfish)
7. Take a Disney Cruise with no kids.
8. Play on a neighborhood sports league.
9. Go to an arcade.
10. Collect stuffed animals (ask how I know about this one)

I hope you do one or all of these and live life like a kid, It may just save your life.

Commencement Notes Steve Harvey Lessons Part 3

Hello Readers,

I hope you have enjoyed the tips from my commencement ceremony with Steve Harvey as the key note speaker. Here are the last few notes:

1. When you think you have sunk so low, call on who your God is. You are going to need him.
2. God wants to hear from you.
3. Sometimes you have to come back from a set back.
4. We must ask and believe. Stop trying to figure things out.
5. Change your life.
6. Imagination is everything, it is the preview to life's coming attractions. This is faith.
7. Faith is your imagination. Everything you imagine God put it there.
8. Live the life God has for you.
9. Rich people think about what they want then imagine it, and then they go get it.
10. Everything you have you imagined it then you went and got it.
11. Have you ever seen a preview that did not happen?
12. Stop making excuses for your life.
13. Stop listening to others and the naysayers.
14. There is always a way around things if you are willing to think outside the box.
15. If something plays in your imagination please believe it is there for a reason.

Hope you enjoyed these lessons

Service

Hello Readers,

Do me a favor and ask yourself who have you served  lately? Really, take some time to think about it. Did you serve someone today? If so great keep it going, if not ask yourself why? I believe we exist in the world for the sole purpose of helping and aiding others. Now you may ask but Marla what about my needs? Great question, ironically when you begin to place your care into the care and concerns of others somehow your needs are met. If you think serving is something hard to accomplish on a daily basis here is a list of simple things you can do to serve others:

1. Smile at 5 people today. You never know what a smile can do for others.
2. Open the door for someone else.
3. Compliment someone.
4. Ask someone how can you help them.
5. Yes as crazy as this one seems, let someone in during traffic.

This is a simple list to follow.

Happy serving

Ten Habits of a Successful Person

 Hello Readers,

I recently spoke on this at an event. Here are some tips to live on:

1.  Read 30min-hour a day. Read anything… Reading stimulates the brain.
2. Have a daily routine. There is power in a routine lifestyle
3. Have fun. Relax. Family time is a must.  Act like a child, it is okay. We are all big adult kids.
4. Schedule quiet time to think. Meditate. Be alone. Daydream. Pray.
5. If you work, make sure it's a job that's fulfilling. Use your skills wisely. Do not let them go to waste.
6. Spend money on memories, not material things. Create life experiences. Go to a concert, play, or an amusement park.
7. Take care of yourself (Very important) without this one, the others do not exist.
8. Get involved with something. Pay it forward. Volunteer.
9. Take chances. What do you have to lose? Do not be afraid of failure. Van Gogh only sold one painting.
10. Live life to the fullest. Live out loud!

Commencement Takeaways Part 2 Faith

Hello Readers,

Here is part two of my commencement take aways:

1. Faith is needed for everything.
2. Your education, talent, and charisma will only get you to a certain point after that you will need faith.
3. To have the life of your dreams you have to aspire to something so great that in order to achieve it, you will have to have God’s help. (Or whoever your higher power is)
