My new friend

Hello Readers,

I just came back from the Association for Talent Development International Conference and Exposition better known as ATD ICE. This year this annual event was held in beautiful Denver, Colorado at the convention center. The conference hosted over ten thousand people from all over the world. I had the great opportunity to meet people from the Netherlands, Brazil, China, Japan, and Canada. I made lasting connections with a few people from here in the states as well. One relationship I wanted to share with you is with my new found friend from Tokyo, Ami. Ami sat next to me in one of the sessions we attended. The funny thing about us meeting was I asked her for some lotion and she gave me some oil to use (that smelled great by the way). We were friends from that point on. The great thing about this story was Ami was so happy to be at the conference and meet people from the United States. She shared with me that her English was not good but she is working on it, so I found myself translating for her to assist her with speaking to other people (like I know Japanese). She said that she was so happy we met and she wanted to keep in touch and I obliged. I am happy to say I have a friend now in Tokyo, Japan. Through meeting Ami I have opened my mindset more to the beautiful world that is out there and the people that occupy it and that my reader is a wonderful thing.

Celebration

Hello readers,

In honor of our 100Th blog post, I want to share with you a story about celebration. Google defines celebration as the action of marking one's pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, social activity. I would like to simplify this definition by stating “to make one’s pleasure”. I have come to realize that celebrating does not have to be a huge and meaningful event. We just took our son and two of his friends with another couple on a cruise for his 18th birthday. As I sat on the Lido Deck gazing at people from all over the country and of many different backgrounds dancing and having a “ball”, I noticed they all had one thing in common, they were all engaging in an enjoyable or social activity. No one seemed to have a care in the world, they were dancing, swimming, eating, playing table tennis and corn hole, and simply in celebration mode of being of vacation. Witnessing so much celebration made me stop and realize life is GRAND. I encourage you to find something that brings you pleasure. How many times have you celebrated something this year just because? Are you engaging in enjoyable and social activities? Get out and celebrate. You do not need a reason; the fact that you are reading this blog post is reason enough. Live life.

Your thoughts welcome…

Happiness is creating memories

Hello Readers,

As I sit here at the dealership waiting on my car to get serviced, I am thinking back on my week. Here is a quick glimpse: I received two birthday surprises, one at work and the other by my husband and close friends, I dressed up as a well-known celebrity for a trivia game, I watched my son take his first set of senior pictures, I participated in a youth lock in which had a special twist, I ministered to grateful men in prison, and that is just the big stuff. I do not mention all these to brag, I mention these to say yes even though I had a very busy week it is these types of activities I mentioned that bring me true happiness. Sure I like to shop and have materialistic things, but creating memories brings me the best feeling. The events that happened this week all brought me a sense of joy and happiness and I could not have asked for them to be any different. Being tired is only a small piece of how I feel. The total sum of how I feel is… simply full.

How are you creating memories?

Your thoughts are welcome...

Ten Habits of a Successful Person

 Hello Readers,

I recently spoke on this at an event. Here are some tips to live on:

1.  Read 30min-hour a day. Read anything… Reading stimulates the brain.
2. Have a daily routine. There is power in a routine lifestyle
3. Have fun. Relax. Family time is a must.  Act like a child, it is okay. We are all big adult kids.
4. Schedule quiet time to think. Meditate. Be alone. Daydream. Pray.
5. If you work, make sure it's a job that's fulfilling. Use your skills wisely. Do not let them go to waste.
6. Spend money on memories, not material things. Create life experiences. Go to a concert, play, or an amusement park.
7. Take care of yourself (Very important) without this one, the others do not exist.
8. Get involved with something. Pay it forward. Volunteer.
9. Take chances. What do you have to lose? Do not be afraid of failure. Van Gogh only sold one painting.
10. Live life to the fullest. Live out loud!

Your thoughts are welcome...
