Live Life!

Are you living or existing? I recently participated in an outdoor game of adult kickball and the weather was not in our favor. Ok, just to say it plain, the weather SUCKED! However, we still played and everyone actually enjoyed themselves. No one complained, no one frowned, we just simply played the game and lived life. I believe this is what happened: we took the expectations off; we let the event take place, and had fun. When you take the expectations off and allow life to flow, then we can simply live. I am a fan of Audrey Hepburn pictures and art work and I came across this quote of hers “The most important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy - it's all that matters”. In the end the people at the event were happy playing kickball in the rain and really that was all that mattered.

Spending time

If I want to learn more about a person I will not ask the person anything. I will ask the people they are associated with. On average we as adults have 3-4 close friends and many associates. Those 3-4 friends tell the world everything anyone would need to know about who you are. According to Harvard psychologist Dr. David McClelland those people are called your reference group and these people will determine 95% of your success or failure in life (Maxwell, 2014). Now that I have your attention, do a quick examination of who is in your “circle”. Take a moment to write their names down and the value they bring in your life. Do they have career, family, life, and fun goals? Do they value who they are? Are they positive, friendly, obedient, or courageous? Really think this over and let us know your thoughts. Remember if there is no value, you may need to rethink who is in your reference circle.

You are Teaching People Everyday

Whether you believe it or not you are teaching people something about you everyday. For example, today something was pointed out to me that I need to work on. I thought to myself what was I showing the world? I asked myself what others may see. What am I teaching others about myself each day as I step into the world? These are questions we should ask ourselves on a daily basis. This is a part of self-evaluation. Ask yourself, what mark do you want to leave in this world? When you step outside your front door you are leaving an impression on every person you meet every day. In simpler terms you have taught or your will each someone something about you. So what did you teach the world today?  Your thoughts are welcome...

Commencement Time!

I recently attended a commencement for a family member where various speeches was given and they all spoke of a new beginning and the ending of a chapter. The word “commencement” is defined as a beginning or a start. Many people look at the commencement ceremonies as an end to an era in their life. The actual truth is where an era/chapter ends, there is always a beginning of a new era/chapter. We as adults are always beginning something new. We commence our day and activities on a regular basis, but are we paying attention to the commencement in the moment? Today I encourage you to not allow yourself to be motivated by the end of a era/chapter, but  be motivated by the commencement of a era/chapter. Here is a secret I will share, we engage in commencing each day we wake up. Why not make your day and every day a good  What are your thoughts?
