Hello Readers,

Did you enjoy last week’s Tips for Life? If so, great. Let’s move into this week’s tips from another dynamic speaker at the women’s conference named Terry Savelle Foy. Follow Terri on Twitter @terrisavellefoy. The theme is personal development.

Enjoy this week’s tips:

7 Tips for Life Part 2

1. Everything begins when you decide to take 100% responsibility of your life.
2. We are rewarded in public for what we do in private.
3. The only person you are competing with is yourself.
4. Develop routine in your life. You cannot have a vision without routine.
5. Work harder on yourself than on your job – Jim Rohn (One of my personal favorites)
6. You will never leave where you are until you can see where you want to be.
7. Give yourself permission to dream. Successful people dream and imagine the success, then they make it happen.

I am personally taking action in my life to apply these tips, will you?

7 Tips for Life Part 1

Hello Readers,

I just came back from a Women’s Conference in Atlanta, GA. and if you have been following me you know I love to pass on what I learned. Over the next few weeks I am going to share with you what I call “Tips for Life,” a four part series on practical tips anyone can use. The conference was full of dynamic speakers and they had much wisdom to share on leadership, personal development, career, and simply living the good life. I am going to share with you a mixture of what I learned in hopes that you gain from it and pass it along as well. Below is your first round of Tips for Life. The theme is personal and spiritual development. Enjoy:

7 Tips for Life Part 1

1. The way we think will guide and steer our life. Change your thoughts, change your life.
2. If you say you can’t then you won’t. Your mouth dictates your future.
3. Who told you, that you were not enough? You are enough!
4. Stop chasing trends, create your own.
5. Stop making excuses, you are where you are because you allowed yourself to be there.
6. Know your worth.
7. Learn how to refresh. Refresh means to fill up again and again.

These are some of the tips from one of the dynamic speakers at the conference, Toya Exnicious. Check her out and follow her on Twitter @MsTPrissy

Structure

Hello Readers,

As I get older (I will be 39 this year), I realize how much my brain does not function well without some type of structure. I find myself trying to figure out some of the smallest structural details of a situation and in actuality there is no structure to be had. I have learned that not everything has structure. For example, some people are not structured, some companies are not structured, and definitely some parking lots I have been in are not very structured at all. So what do I mean by structure? Merriam Webster defines structure as, the way something is built or organized. I have come to respect my own personal structure and it is what makes me who I am. I am strong in my beliefs and my family. I love to read and to have fun. I may over analyze some things and I am a visual learner. These are just a few of the things that make me who I am or simply put this is the way I am built and I like it. Yes, I will continue to review and inspect my structure for improvements and if I need to redesign I will. How are you built? Do you need to redesign your structure? Accept you, redesign if you need to, and live life.  Think about it.

Failure

Hello Readers,

One day my husband and I found ourselves sitting in a seminar about one of the best ways to build a business. Well, with the both of us having the desire to own a business, we figured what could it hurt to simply listen in? Well… it hurt very much. Shades of Blue was the name of our first business. It was a vending machine business. We purchased five vending machines for an amount we should not have. This story does not end pretty; we sold the machines after we were only able to get the machines into two locations. After we realized we were buying more candy than people did on Halloween, we used wisdom and decided to sell the machines. Thankfully another couple who was able to dedicate the time needed to run the business purchased the machines for a fraction of what we paid. Yes we were stuck with the debt but, we had our lives back, well at least until the next business. :)

The lesson learned here is, if you have a desire, jump in and do it. Use wisdom, and know when it is time to start and when it is time to get out. We did not research and we did not take the time to understand what we were doing. We now know better. We were not afraid to fail. Here is a quote from our new quote book due out soon:

“I do not fear failure; I have done it too many times, therefore I know it is bound to happen again, this is why I am successful.”

Personal Development costs what?!

Hello Readers,

How much did you spend on personal development in 2015? Wait before you answer this question. Let’s think about the vacations we took last year or the movies we went to see. How much did those cost on average? I’ve heard the average American spends $2-5K on vacations or more and $300-500 a year in going to the movies. Now answer the question, how much did you spend on books, coaching, career development, conferences, schooling, certificates, educational dvds and/or cds? Some of these mentioned can cost and upwards of 10K or more. I am not suggesting that you spend 10K on personal development in one year (even though that is not a bad idea); however I am suggesting that you set aside some monies to attend a conference, buy 10 books, or invest a life or career coach. If you do not have the cash now it is okay, just save the money, the same way you are saving for that Disney Cruise. I am not suggesting anything that I have not done or currently implementing in my own life. I am a big fan of personal development. My husband and I have purposed to set aside money each month just for personal development. After all growth coupled with development is what leads to success.
