Are resumes dead? Employment path creation vs 9 to 5

Hello Readers,

I read an article the other day which stated that more and more companies are not hiring for full time positions like they used to five years ago. The reasoning behind the slowdown in hiring is because people are creating their own path of employment by utilizing methods such as freelancing, blogging, Ubering, and Fivering (yes I made up these words). I only named a small portion; there are many more ways of making money. I am a huge fan of the new wave of making money and creating your own path. I am all over it myself. Sooo, if hiring is slowing down and not what it used to look like back in the day, this leaves the question of… is the resume dead? I have “great” news and “okay” news for you. The “great” news is NO, the resume is not dead and is still very much needed. The “okay” news is everyone will NOT fit into the new wave of creating their own path of employment for themselves. Many people like the routine and security of a 9-5. The people who are creating their own path of employment will start businesses and they will need employees, therefore, the cycle will continue and the resume will still live. SO which one are you? The 9-5 or the path creator? Either one is a great option, remember to fit yourself into what is best for you and not what anyone else thinks is best for you and most importantly keep your resume up to date.

Your thoughts are welcome...
